From Chaos to Craft: The Kila Siku Journey
I started Kila Siku during one of the most chaotic, beautiful seasons of my life — postpartum, finishing my MBA, and welcoming my second son into the world. The name means “everyday” in Swahili, because that’s what this brand is about: honoring the everyday — with all its mess, its magic, and its meaning.
In those early days, I knew two things for sure: I wanted to create work that mattered, and I wanted to leave a legacy for my boys that showed them what it looks like to live with courage, curiosity, and conviction.
Fashion was always my world, but I couldn’t ignore its brokenness. Piles of premium leather discarded because of the smallest flaw. Skilled artisans left underpaid or overlooked. A system built to profit at the expense of people and the planet.
So we did something radically simple: we rescued luxury leathers that were headed for the landfill, and we placed them in the hands of artisans in Delhi, India. These are families — led by women — who deserve dignified work and fair wages. Together, we transform what was once waste into handbags that are timeless, functional, and filled with story.
Every seam, every clasp, every finish matters. That’s why we use premium Japanese hardware and work in small batches — not mass production. Each bag carries with it more than design; it carries opportunity, second chances, and everyday beauty.
Kila Siku is more than a bag you sling over your shoulder. It’s a reminder that your everyday choices can restore dignity, create opportunity, and spark mischief in the best way. It’s proof that luxury and sustainability don’t have to be opposites. And it’s a promise — to you, to my sons, and to the artisans behind each piece — that business can be done differently.
Because every day, we get to decide what kind of story we want to carry. And I believe yours deserves to be bold, beautiful, and built on values.
